🔌 Improving Actions: authenticate once, set up faster, and get more visibility
1781769600000
Gradual rollout: These improvements to Actions are being rolled out progressively to merchants using AI Agent over the coming weeks. If you don't see it yet, it's on the way.
We're improving how Actions work across the board; from setup to day-to-day management. Two changes are live now, and a third is coming soon.
Authentication now lives at the app level
You now authenticate once per app in the App Store — not once per Action step. Those credentials automatically apply to every Action from that provider.
Until now, authentication was set up inside each individual Action step — time-consuming to configure, and easy to break when credentials expired.
At rollout, all your existing credentials are automatically moved to the app level. Nothing breaks on your end.
Connect an app, get all its Actions automatically
When you connect an app via the App Store, every Action available for that provider instantly appears in your Action Library — no per-Action configuration required.
Combined with the authentication change above, one connection flow now covers everything.
Your next steps:
All Actions from apps you've already authenticated will be automatically added to your library. They won't fire on their own — AI Agent can only use an Action once it's referenced in a Skill or Guidance. Head to your Action Library, review what's been added, and add the relevant Actions to the right Skills or Guidances.
A redesigned Action Library — coming soon
We're redesigning the Action Library to match the new model. You'll see at a glance which Actions are referenced in a Skill or Guidance and which aren't — and link the ones that aren't with a single click. We're also bringing visibility into Action failures: today, they can fail without any signal. The new Library changes that.
